STUDENTS’ UNION NEWS

This year Sport with the Students’ Union is undergoing a bit of a revamp!  As well as continuing to improve on their success in the BUSA leagues, Sports Clubs are also focusing on increasing development and participation opportunities for all. UCLan’s ranking in the BUSA league table has jumped a fantastic 20 places off the back of the clubs’ many successful performances last season.  Currently sitting at 56th, the SU and the University are working together with teams to provide more training hours, increasingly professionalised coaching and further support so that we can continue our climb up the league table.

With the Students having more responsibility within their clubs, SU Sport now provides an ideal platform for personal development.  The possibility for all members to become involved in the running of their club is giving the students more useful, transferable skills in a dynamic, fun and friendly environment. Recognising all the hard work members put in to their clubs this year is also on the agenda in the SU.  For the first time, volunteered hours by club members will be accredited under the Lancashire Sport and Millennium Volunteer partnership, giving the students official volunteering certification.
