University now ranked fourth in the UK
The 2009 People & Planet Green League has put UCLan in fourth place in the UK.
The University has been recognised for its environmental performance, and the Students' Union played a big part in helping UCLan amass a big points haul.
People & Planet rate universities based on the number of staff working on the environment, ethical investment and carbon emissions, plus many other environmental criteria.

The Union won the Gold Award at the NUS Sound Impact Awards and this was a big green tick for UCLan.
Former Union Campaigns officer, Lee Bradshaw, said: "I think it is great new that the University has climbed another place to go fourth in the Green League, and shows the commitment that both UCLan and the Students' Union have given to environmental practises in the past 12 months.
"The Union winning a Gold Sound Impact Award definitely helped the University gain its new position and I hope positive co-operation continues between the two organisations and we continue to make these impressive gains in the years to come."
UCLan has awarded a first-class for its environmental performance and is the only North-West university to be awarded with this. In the 2008 Green League the University was ranked fifth.
People & Planet is the largest student network in Britain, campaigning to end world poverty, defend human rights and protect the environment.
