Kung Fu team's record medal haul

National championships glory for UCLan team

The UCLan Students' Union Kung Fu team have won 21 medals at a national championships.

 

The team triumphed at the Hung Kuen Kungfu Championship.

Chairperson Greg Marl was thrilled with the club's performance.

 

He said: "This is our biggest achievement to date and everyone can be really proud of our achievements, it caps a great year for the club and all involved."

 

The team competed in the patterns and sparring events against teams from Leeds, Manchester and Loughborough.

 

Their biggest win was the Female Open Sparring Championships trophy that the club will now keep for six months before seeking to defend it.

 

Special mentions go to: David Arrowsmith (winning 1 Gold and 1 Bronze medal), Lee Chester (winning 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals), Neema Littlejohn (winning 3 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Medal for Open Belt Sparring Participation) and Greg Marl (winning 1 bronze medal).
