International discounts for students
NUS Extra card teams up with ISIC
Students buying an NUS Extra card from August 2009 will be able to combine it with with an International Student Identity Card (ISIC).
For just £1 extra UCLan students will be able to add the ISIC and get up to 40,000 discounts around the world.
Having ISIC on your NUS Extra card can also mean your card can be used as proof of being a student across the globe.
Former Union President, Gavin Jones, welcomed the move to link the NUS Extra card and ISIC together.
He said: "With more students choosing to study abroad for the year or a semester this is a welcome move.
"The NUS Extra card is a great discount card but to also have an ISIC card for just £1 is great value.
"This will be really useful for any student who is planning on travelling over the next year. Even if you haven't planned to travel it's worth having so that if that last-minute deal pops up in Europe you can have the card ready to save a few quid when you're over there.
"It is also great news for all students coming from abroad to study at UCLan as they can get a discount card that works both in the UK and back at home."
The NUS Extra card costs £10 and will be available online from August 2009 and from the Students' Union building from September 2009.
The NUS Extra card allows you to get top discounts from national chains such as McDonalds and Matalan but also local stores in Preston and the surrounding area. It's a must to have in your wallet or purse when out shopping.
£4 from the sale of every NUS Extra card at UCLan comes back to the Students' Union and is invested in services for students from our independent Advice Centre through to our award-winning venue 53 Degrees.
Make sure you demand extra and enjoy the benefits having an NUS Extra card can bring.
