About Us

The Union is here to make life better for students. That’s our mission because we want every UCLan student to have a great experience at university.

The Union is a democratic body and every year we hold elections to elect the Student Affairs Committee to represent you and campaign on issues that affect you. Students are at the heart of our decision making processes and our Students' Council, GOAL programme and student forums should ensure we are listening to you.

The Union was founded in 1957 as the Harris Students Association

We are a not for profit organisation so every penny we make gets ploughed back into union services to achieve our aim of making life better for students. We don’t have shareholders to take out profits and our trustees ensure we spend the Union’s funds effectively on activities to benefit you.

We are an organisation that is about people coming together to work for change and we hope you will get involved with the Union. You are a member of the Union and we are always interested in what you have to say so register with us to get regular news about how you can get involved. Alternatively contact us directly by email, phone or visit our reception.

You might like the Union so much you want to work for us – all our student staff vacancies are advertised through The Bridge our student employment service.
